Australia and New Zealand Burn Association (ANZBA)was formed in 1976 and later incorporated in 1991 to encourage higher standards of both burn injury prevention and burn patient care through research and education. Membership of ANZBA is open to any person registered to practice medicine, nursing or a health profession allied to medicine or nursing. Australian Wound Management Associationis a multidisciplinary, non-profit organisation committed to developing and improving wound management for all individuals through education, research, communication and networks. The Association acts as a parent body to the autonomous state wound management associations in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia , Tasmania, Victoria, Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia. The New Zealand Wound Care Society is an affiliate with AWMA. The International Union of Wound Healing Societies was formed following the AWMA's hosting of the First World Wound Healing Meeting in Melbourne, September 2000.
